I’m Sam — born in the eighties, in a small rural village in Flanders, Belgium. I grew up playing outside, building with LEGO, and spending time with friends in the local youth movement or on the volleyball team.
I spent countless hours reading books, which — to this day — I believe formed the foundation of my creativity and imagination.
Without mobile phones or tablets, our teenage years were refreshingly simple. CDs were the peak of technology back then — but honestly, how great was the music of the ’90s, right?
Things changed when our first Intel 486 PC arrived at home (yeah, I know — no Commodore or Amiga). Besides playing the early computer games, I discovered that you could actually create things by programming. My parents gave me a QBasic book for my 16th birthday, and that’s where it all began.
It didn’t take long to decide on a computer-related study path. I chose a pioneering degree: Multimedia & Communication Technologies, which had just started at Howest in Kortrijk. The program covered electronics, PC technologies, photography, programming, 3D design, and HTML — a wonderfully versatile mix. Before long, I realized that the programming and data side of things were what truly fascinated me.
That led to my first job, where I started working with .NET, which had just been launched at the time. Soon, the entrepreneurial spirit kicked in, and I joined Codit, helping it grow into a 200-person company by the end of 2018. It was an incredible journey that taught me so much — and a proud milestone when we successfully sold the company.
These days, I continue doing what I love most: building products with technology, always with an entrepreneurial mindset.
That mix of creativity, inspiration, and the need to recharge in nature also defines this website — where you’ll find my passions for photography, cycling, and exploring the Ardennes.
Enjoy!
